Perfection isms 3
Stemming from the “done is better than perfect” argument in my last post, instead of “done” meaning it’s perfect, I prefer to make being “done” mean that at the very least I’m doing two important things – showing up as myself and helping people. Those are the metrics I find more useful than “But is it perfect?”
A bit harsh, but step back and remember it’s not really about you. This is a whole other post, but what we tend to forget (or not realize) is that when we don’t follow through, it is not just us that suffers. The world needs us all, and whatever your calling is, every time you do not answer it…there are others who miss out too. I don’t think it’s happenstance that us becoming our fullest, perfect/imperfect selves also highly serves others. Which leads me to the next post in this series on perfectionism…are we and all we do imperfect, or actually perfect?
